Deli Manager
Wage:  $15.00+ based on experience

Job Summary:

Direct and manage all functions and activities of Deli Department and achieve sales and profit goals.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Along with Store Manager, work out localized merchandising plans for the department.
  2. Follow approved Delicatessen Department plans for effective space management based on movement, consumer demands and profitability.
  3. Order merchandise and control inventory to minimize out-of-stock and overstock and to maximize sales.
  4. Follow approved procedures for receiving product, price marking and restocking cases to insure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation.
  5. Control department expenses.
  6. Take action to control shrinkage and pilferage losses.
  7. Effectively train and supervise other Delicatessen Department personnel.
  8. Follow planned program of maintenance on cases, back room coolers and refrigeration equipment.
  9. Oversee daily menus.
  10. Select items and write weekly ads.
  11. Oversees cooking responsibilities.
  12. Insure favorable department image with customers through a clean, attractive and friendly department.
  13. Follow all company policies and procedures.
  14. Maintain and submit required records and reports.
  15. Maintain good communication in store and throughout the organization.
  16. Insure compliance to company’s Sanitation, Safety and Security Program.
  17. Insure compliance to local, state and government weights and measure laws.
  18. Prepare schedules weekly, based on projected sales volume and work load.
  19. Maintain a neat personal appearance according to the dress code policy.
  20. Greet all customers and be observant.

Supplemental Job Functions:
  1. Observe local conditions and competitive activity relating to the Delicatessen Department and keep others informed.
  2. Assist second deli person with hot foods and assist in catering.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  1. High School education minimum requirement.
  2. At least two years’ experience in supermarket or related industry in management position.
  3. Must have strong oral and written communication skills for dealing with customers, employees and vendors.
  4. Ability to unload, transport and place merchandise to the specified area.
  5. Must have dexterity in hands to enable slicing and preparing of deli products.
  6. Must be able to work long and irregular hours.
  7. Must be able to lift up to fifty pounds (50#’s) up to twenty percent (20%) of the time.
  8. Must be able to stand, twist, squat, reach for up to eight hours.

Working Conditions:
  1. Exposure to hazardous conditions associated with operation of mechanical and electrical equipment and hazardous chemicals used in cleaning the equipment in the deli.  Hazards are limited when established safety procedures are followed.
  2. Exposed to extreme heat twenty percent (20%) of the time, and extreme cold, of up to thirty two degrees (32 o’s) twenty percent (20%) of the time.

Meat Manager
Job Type:  Full-time

Job Summary:

Direct and manage all functions and activities of Meat Department to achieve sales and profit goals.

  1. Prepares a weekly schedule based on projected sales, volume and work load.
  2. Along with Store Manager, work out localized merchandising plans for the department.
  3. Follow approved Meat Department plans for effective space management based on movement, consumer demands and profitability.
  4. Oder merchandise and control inventory to minimize out-of-stock and overstocks, and to maximize sales.
  5. Follow approved procedures for receiving products, price marking and restocking cases to ensure quality protection, accuracy and product rotation.
  6. Control department expenses.
  7. Take action to control shrinkage and pilferage losses.
  8. Effectively hires, supervises, trains, schedules, and conducts annual performance reviews on all Meat Department personnel.
  9. Follow planned program of maintenance on cases, coolers, refrigeration and meat department equipment.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  1. High School education minimum required.
  2. Ability to read and write to properly tag merchandise, ordering and maintaining inventory and to ensure proper rotation of products.
  3. Above average analytical skills necessary to study and interpret various reports to keep the department profitable.
  4. Should have at least three years’ experience working in supermarket industry, with at least one year as a meat cutter.
  5. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills for dealing with customers, employees and vendors.

Working Conditions:
  1. Must be able to work long and irregular hours.
  2. Regularly exposed to hazardous conditions associated with the operation of mechanical equipment, and hazardous chemicals.  Hazards are limited when established safety procedures are followed.
  3. Exposure to extreme cold, while handling frozen and refrigerated meat at a minimum of fifty-five percent (55%) over an eight (8) hour schedule, and can go up to a maximum of minus fifteen degrees (-15 o’s) five percent (5%) of the time.

To maintain pricing, stocking and rotation of merchandise in grocery area..

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Assist in unloading and breaking down of merchandise.

Cashier/Customer Service

Job Summary:

The opening would be temporarily working at the customer service desk then would move to the cashiering position. At the customer service desk you would be dealing with customer issues such as returns, checking them out, selling lottery tickets and tobacco, directing phone calls and overseeing the cashiers.

Cashier Job Description:
  1. Scans or rings grocery orders accurately and efficiently. (Identify departments for items that don’t scan).
  2. Memorize and utilize PLU codes accurately.
  3. Record prices and departments, subtotals taxable items, and total purchases accurately on cash register.
  4. Assure the security of cash drawer at all times.
  5. Follow all voided sale procedures, informing customers what you are doing.

  7. Collects money from customer and makes correct change.
  8. Keeps current on advertised specials and sale item prices.

Deli Clerk/Customer Service

Job Summary:

To wait on customers in the Deli, in a courteous manner and prepare orders to customers satisfaction.

Essential Job Functions:
  1. Slices, cuts, weighs and prices merchandise in a courteous manner and prepares orders to customer satisfaction.
  2. Unload deli merchandise and transport stock to storage area.
  3. Maintain shelves and cases filled at all times.
  4. Control freshness by coding and rotating all products and remove out-of-control merchandise daily.
  5. Price all products legibly and according to price book.
  6. Maintain new items or weekly specials.

This is a full-time position, with either days (6am-2pm) or nights (12pm-8:30pm), 5 days a week.
